Now presenting the latest episode of The Nick Fong PODCAST. Today, Nick Fong, the founder and broker of Ronival Real Estate, is joined by Lawrence and Edith of the Sarahuaro Foundation in Los Cabos. This wonderful foundation helps children and women in the Cabo area. As you’ll see in the video, their work is amazing and there’s always a chance to help. Sarahuaro Foundation has two programs. The first program helps feed children in need. Also, it helps with their schooling. The second program is the Women’s Center. This program empowers women to make strong, self-sufficient choices. Now, continue reading to learn more about this wonderful foundation and how you can help.
Two sub-programs of the Women’s Center
The first program within the Women’s Center is a Trade Skills Program. As the name suggests, this program helps train women for a better future. To explain, women in this program can develop their skills for both home-making, like sewing, and for different trades so they can find a job and develop a solid career path.
Within these programs are English classes. As of now, there are 23 students in this English class. As Edith explains, it’s important to know English being in a touristic location like Cabo. With English, women can get better jobs with higher pay.
About Edith – Director of Sarahuaro
Edith tells Nick that she’s lived in Los Cabos for about five years now. As she says, it’s been an incredible experience living in Cabo. Edith calls Cabo a beautiful place. And she’s right. Cabo is beautiful everywhere you go – from the white-sand beaches to the wonderful towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo that make up Los Cabos. Many supporters of local causes like Sarahuaro also come from communities such as Pedregal Homes For Sale, known for its close-knit, philanthropic residents.
Being her passion, Edith loves working for Sarahuaro. As Edith explains, the name Sarahuaro is named similar to the saguaro cactus, since Cabo is in a desert setting. Sarahuaro started back in 2005 with the Women’s Center. Now it has grown to include children and both women’s programs. What an exciting career Edith has had maintaining and growing this wonderful foundation.
Lawrence – Simply involved and donating
In the video, Lawrence explains how he became involved with Sarahuaro in Los Cabos. Speaking with Nick, he explains that it all started with a donation. This is when he was just a regular tourist of Cabo. But now, as he continues to donate, he’s quite involved with the operation. This has been a goal for Lawrence and his wife, having been involved with similar organizations in Canada.
