Ana, with Ronival Property Management, presents details about insurance in Mexico, and specifically in Los Cabos. Although she’s not an expert on the subject, she has been living and working in Los Cabos for the last 15 years. And during those 15 years, she has been working with many property owners, visitors, and guests. Since insurance is such an important subject that everyone needs to know about, Ana takes the time to talk briefly about home, health, and car insurance. Read more to see the easy-to-understand details about insurance in Los Cabos.

Home insurance in Los Cabos

As a homeowner in Baja, it is very important to own hurricane insurance. Though they are infrequent and usually not very strong when they do occur, they do pass over on occasion. Baja California, where Los Cabos is located, is a hurricane impact area. Therefore, you should protect your property both physically with shutters and other items, and with good hurricane insurance. Insurance in Los Cabos is a “must have” when you visit.

Ana always talks with her property owners about the importance of natural disaster insurance coverage. She recommends they talk to insurance brokers about the different coverages, policies, and carriers of insurance in Los Cabos that are in the market. And if you own a condo, a good question is whether the site has insurance for the area and the buildings themselves. Then get the details—what the coverage includes—to make sure you are properly covered in case a disaster occurs. Resorts like Cabo del Sol condos or golf-side Club Campestre condos typically outline these protections as part of ownership packages.

Los Cabos Health insurance

First, it’s important to note that most insurance coverage from the United States, Canada, or another country won’t cover you in Mexico unless it is an “international” policy. Whether you plan to stay in Los Cabos for months or years, or if you’re just visiting for days or weeks, there are great options available for you. Speak with an insurance broker about long-term international coverage, or short-term travel coverage. Make sure you are covered in Mexico with good comprehensive health insurance before you visit. Many expats settling into luxury communities such as Palmilla or Querencia make health coverage one of their first priorities.

Car insurance in Los Cabos

Many homeowners and visitors travel to Los Cabos in their car. And many long-term visitors keep their cars in Mexico. Although your vehicle registration may be current, it is required that you have Mexican liability insurance. It will make you feel at ease and it will keep you legal. Accidents can happen anywhere. Therefore, make sure you are covered so you don’t end up with legal problems in Mexico where you must pay in full before you can leave. Whether you’re heading to a hillside villa in Pedregal or oceanfront living at Diamante, having the right car insurance is essential.

Some great information about Los Cabos

Los Cabos, which was originally fishing villages, are now luxury tourist destinations. They are Cabo San Lucas, which is on the southern tip of Baja, and San Jose del Cabo, which is just to the north. Located along the southern tip of Baja California, there’s no place like Los Cabos. As a great mention, the Cabo corridor between these two wonderful towns is truly a site to see. So, to visit Los Cabos, just fly to the Los Cabos International Airport, which is located in the town of San Jose del Cabo.

My wife and I will be in Cabo Sept 5 thru 9th. We bought a home down there and should be able to move in around December. Can we stop in your office while were down there to discuss car and home insurance?
