Filming from Pescadero on the Pacific Side of Baja Sur, Nick Fong and Mark Sherman meet to answer the common question about where to buy a home or condo outside Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Last time they met for a PODCAST episode, Mark gave Nick a surfing lesson on the beach there a few months ago.

Paraglider rescue half-mile in the ocean
Just a few weeks ago, Mark made the news for taking part in a rescue of a powered paraglider who had an accident and ended up out in the Pacific Ocean. This was during sunset in Cerritos Bay, right before getting dark. Fortunately, Mark was previously a life guard, so he was trained for this rescue. At the time, Mark was just walking his dog on the beach when he saw the paraglider go down.
About 14 years prior, as a life guard, Mark helped rescue two people from an ultra-light crash into the Pacific. At that time, he had the equipment to perform that rescue. As he describes in the video, it was quite a dramatic rescue with injuries to deal with. This time, he was wearing normal clothes and didn’t have any equipment.
That early evening, Mark was able to contact someone with a large foam board and a wet-suit to use for this rescue. This took place in May, when the water temperature in the Pacific is still quite cold, in the low 60s F. That means, time was urgent and lives were at stake. So after suiting up and jumping on the foam board, he got out there and made the rescue.
As a side note about Mark Sherman, he has been involved with what some people would call extreme sports for some time now. For example, Mark was an avid sky diver. On top of that, Mark was also a BASE jumper, which stands for buildings, antenna (referring to radio masts), spans (bridges), and earth (cliffs). Right now, he’s an avid surfer and loves being on the water.
