Los Cabos: The favorite vacation spot worldwide

Meeting with Nick Fong on video chat from Los Angeles, Susie Albin-Najera has communicated with Nick through email and they’ve been connected on social media for some time now.  This is the first time they’ve spoken face-to-face, even though online.  Now we can see how their connection focuses on tourism in Los Cabos.

About Susie Albin-Najera

Back in 2019, Susie opened and began operations in the Los Angeles office of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.  As such, she has been running the LA office for over three years now.  Being the only person in the LA office, her agenda and schedule are quite full each year.

According to Susie, Los Angeles is the Los Cabos Tourism Board’s number-one market, which is why she chose that location for her office.  But of course, she’s responsible for providing tourism services to all of the United States.  As she says in the video, her primary objective is to nurture the market where she’s located.

Having daily quick direct flights from Los Angeles to Los Cabos, Nick agrees that the Los Angeles market is very important.  Therefore, Nick asks Susie about what trends she’s been seeing in the Los Angeles market over the last three years.

Los Angeles Los Cabos Tourism Board market trends

When she opened the office in Los Angeles, the market trajectory was quite positive – she sites that as one of the reasons for establishing that office location.  Also, she knew that the Mexican tourism boards had been dissolving that same year in LA.  That means, she had an amazing opportunity to capitalize on this popular tourism market.

Susie was told by the Los Cabos Tourism Board that they needed a presence in Los Angeles.  Being so close to the beginning of the Pandemic, everything appeared to change only months later.  Fortunately, Los Cabos and most Mexican destinations were only closed for a month or two, revealing an amazing positive market trend.

Being one of the only destinations in the world open to tourism during the early months of Covid-19, a new type of traveler immerged – those discovering Los Cabos for the first time.  In other words, a new market opened up and Los Cabos delivered by implementing many safety measures and by being open for tourism when everywhere else was shut down and closed off.

According to Nick, from a real estate and vacation rental perspective, tourism in Los Cabos is better than ever. Both the real estate market and tourism throughout Baja Sur has grown by leaps and bounds – by record numbers, ever since 2020.
