Cafe Santa Fe needed renovation and it needed a new purpose. As you’ll see, she gave it that in a big way. Cafe Santa Fe brought back to life in 1988
To begin Paula’s story, she’s not from Mexico, but New York City. As she says in the video, she has always loved Mexico and had travelled to many places there in the past. Back then, she had only heard about the little town of Todos Santos. And when she first arrived, many of the commercial buildings were closed or abandoned, just like Cafe Santa Fe. But that didn’t stop her. From the moment she walked in, she knew right then that she would be buying this building.
As the name Santa Fe suggests, Paula decided to open a restaurant on faith, which is the English word for “Fe.” Since there was already a chef cooking there for government dignitaries, she asked him if he wanted to open a restaurant together. And of course, he said yes. Thus, they opened the Cafe Sant Fe Restaurant-Bar almost 30 years ago.
Originally built in 1865, the front section, Cafe Santa Fe is a historic landmark. In the video, Paula talks about the history and reveals some interesting facts about this amazing place. But unfortunately, as she says in the video, it’s now time to see it.

The front part of the building, with the entrance from historic Calle Centenario, features the Restaurant and Bar in his original 1800s architecture. Cafe Santa Fe boasts two private dining rooms, a kitchen, a pizza oven, rugged appliances, and plenty of storage. Along with the spacious indoor/outdoor dining room, there’s a calm, refined ambiance to this space that is ideally suited for entertaining. Finally, the outdoor areas include a beautiful palapa patio space for al fresco dining with a dramatic and extensive subtropical garden.
