Palmilla is not a community that markets itself. It does not need to. Established in 1956 by Don Abelardo L. “Rod” Rodríguez — son of former Mexican President Abelardo L. Rodríguez — the original Hotel Palmilla was the very first luxury hospitality address in Los Cabos, drawing a generation of Hollywood icons, industrialists, and old-world Mexican families to a stretch of coast that, at the time, had no paved roads.

The 900-acre master plan unfolds along the southern slope of the Sierra de la Laguna, where the desert meets the calm, turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez.
